Adanse Royal Family Disassociates from Alleged Ngleshie Alata Meeting

Adanse Adjiri Moomli–Brofo Ashiyie Royal Family Denounces Unauthorized Ngleshie Alata Meeting, Affirms Paramount Stool Nominee

The Adanse Adjiri Moomli–Brofo Ashiyie Royal Family of Jamestown Ngleshie Alata has formally disassociated itself from a purported meeting reportedly convened in the name of the Ngleshie Alata Paramount Stool, urging the public to disregard it.

In a statement issued through their legal representatives, ALAD Law Consult, the royal family said it became aware of a notice circulated by Dr. Bruce Asharku Quaye inviting kingmakers, chiefs, queen mothers, elders, youth, and other traditional officeholders to a meeting scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Boxing Arena (Mudor Hall).

The family clarified that the Ngleshie Alata Paramount Stool has remained vacant since the death of the late Oblempong Nii Kojo Ababio V in 2017. By tradition, the right to nominate a Paramount Chief alternates between the Ajumako Dawurampong Royal Family and the Adanse Adjiri Moomli–Brofo Ashiyie Royal Family. The Adanse royal family has exercised its customary right, publicly announcing its nominee, Nii Kofi Okpleng I (Seth Nii Boye Hammond), on August 11, 2025.

The statement stressed that Dr. Quaye is neither lawfully installed nor recognized as Paramount Chief. His claim to the stool is the subject of pending petitions and proceedings before traditional and legal authorities. “Until these proceedings are finally determined, no legitimacy attaches to his claim, whether by gazette, self-description, or otherwise,” the statement noted.

The royal family further described the group organizing the meeting as illegal, noting that it does not belong to the recognized royal family.

As such, Dr. Quaye lacks both customary and legal authority to convene or preside over any meeting in the name of the Ngleshie Alata Paramount Stool. Any such gathering has no binding effect on recognized royal families or traditional institutions in the area.

The Adanse Adjiri Moomli–Brofo Ashiyie Royal Family is therefore warning chiefs, queen mothers, elders, family heads, youth leaders, and the public that the meeting is not sanctioned, recognized, or approved by them.

The statement aims to prevent public confusion, safeguard peace in the traditional area, and protect the integrity of ongoing proceedings, urging the public to exercise caution and restraint.
The statement was dated January 29, 2026, and signed by Muda Ade Lawal, Esq., solicitor for the royal family.
