Ghanaian musician Ice King of Aburi, formerly known as DJ Azonto, has once again stirred conversation in Ghana’s entertainment space after throwing a sarcastic jab at Sarkodie over the globally celebrated Azonto dance.

In a humorous warning, Ice King declared that Sarkodie should not step foot in Aburi unless he is issued a “diplomatic passport,” a statement many fans have interpreted as a playful but pointed shot.

Ice King, who has strangely claimed creative ownership of the Azonto identity, appears to feel sidelined in conversations surrounding the dance’s origin and global popularity.

According to him, while Sarkodie benefitted immensely from the Azonto wave—using it as a backdrop for some of his early hits—key pioneers and influencers of the movement were often overlooked.

His comments have reignited the long‑standing debate about who truly laid the foundation for Azonto’s rise.

Taking the issue beyond words, the Ice King of Aburi followed up his statements with a diss track titled “Fa Ma Omo.”

The song blends satire, bravado, and local slang, delivering pointed lyrics aimed at Sarkodie and the broader music industry.

While the tone remains comedic in parts, the message is unmistakable: Ice King wants recognition for his role in pushing the Azonto culture before it became a commercial phenomenon.
