Armstrong Esaah has officially filed his nomination to contest for the position of Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), pledging to build a more responsive, inclusive and strategically driven regional administration to position the party for victory in the 2028 general elections.
In a statement announcing his decision on Wednesday, 15th July, 2026, Mr. Esaah described his bid as a renewed commitment to serving the party following his narrow defeat in the 2022 regional executive elections. He said he was returning with greater experience and confidence, expressing hope that delegates in the Central Region would entrust him with the mandate to serve as the party’s next Regional Secretary.
According to him, the NPP’s quest to return to power under the leadership of its 2026 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, would require a united party, strengthened grassroots structures, effective communication and efficient administration. He said he was committed to building a highly responsive regional machinery capable of transforming the party’s efforts into electoral success.
Mr. Esaah traced his political journey to 1996 when, as a young party activist, he served as a foot soldier, dawn broadcaster and polling agent during the general elections. He said those early experiences laid the foundation for nearly three decades of dedicated service to the New Patriotic Party.
He recounted serving as Constituency Secretary for Gomoa West after being elected in 1999 and re-elected in 2002, describing the period as instrumental in sharpening his administrative and grassroots mobilisation skills.
He also highlighted his leadership experience within the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) at the University of Cape Coast, where he served successively as Public Relations Officer, Secretary and later President in 2006.
Mr. Esaah further outlined his contributions to the party, including his appointment in 2008 as Central Regional Coordinator responsible for mobilising student support during the general elections. He also served as Secretary to the Public Affairs Committee of the Danquah Institute under the chairmanship of Abu Jinapor, working alongside senior party figures to strengthen media communication and public advocacy.
Beyond party administration, he said he served as Personal Assistant to former Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Ohene Agyapong from 2006 and later became General Manager of Ashh FM in 2010, where he established and chaired the People’s Forum to promote the ideals of the NPP during the 2012 and 2016 election campaigns.
He also cited his work as a consultant for the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in 2020, where he organised strategic planning workshops for Members of Parliament and party executives to enhance the party’s institutional capacity.
Mr. Esaah pointed to his tenure as Director of Corporate Affairs at the National Service Authority, where he served as the institution’s spokesperson and led its public relations and communications, saying the role strengthened his leadership and strategic communication abilities.
He further noted that his commitment to the party earned him the confidence of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who appointed him as spokesperson and Special Aide during both the 2023 and 2026 NPP presidential primary campaigns.
Mr. Esaah said his decades of experience in administration, political organisation and communication have equipped him with the leadership required to strengthen party cohesion and improve organisational efficiency in the Central Region.
He appealed to delegates to support his candidature, assuring them of dedicated service aimed at energising grassroots structures, restoring the party’s electoral dominance in the region and contributing to an NPP victory in the 2028 general elections.
