BCM donates to Korle Bu Child Health Department to support critically ill children

BCM, led by Mr. Paul Coe, has donated an undisclosed amount of money to the Department of Child Health at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to support healthcare services for critically ill children and contribute to the department’s ongoing fundraising initiative.
The donation was made in respect of the launch of the department’s “100 x 100 Fundraising Initiative,” a nationwide campaign aimed at raising GH¢10 million to improve child healthcare services across Ghana.
The initiative seeks to mobilise support from 100,000 individuals, each contributing a minimum of GH¢100, to help fund treatment for vulnerable children, procure essential medical equipment, renovate healthcare facilities and strengthen child health services.
The Department of Child Health said the campaign was launched in response to the growing number of children requiring specialised treatment for conditions such as heart disease, kidney failure, cancers, severe infections and complications arising from prematurity.
According to the department, many families struggle to afford the cost of treatment, resulting in delays in diagnosis and access to life-saving care.
Speaking at the launch, hospital officials said contributions from individuals, corporate organisations and development partners would play a critical role in ensuring that children receive the medical attention they need regardless of their financial circumstances.
Under the fundraising plan, 30 per cent of the targeted GH¢10 million will be used to provide direct financial support for children and families in need, while another 30 per cent will be allocated to the procurement of medical equipment for the department’s general and specialist wards.
The remaining funds will support the renovation of the Babies Unit, investment in furniture and equipment for outpatient and daycare services, and outreach and administrative activities.
The department said the campaign is intended to create a sustainable support system for child healthcare and improve the quality of care for critically ill children at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Hospital authorities expressed appreciation to BCM and Mr. Paul Coe for their contribution and called on other corporate organisations and philanthropists to support the initiative to help transform child healthcare delivery in Ghana.
