Betpawa Hands Over Astroturf to GFA in Accra

Betpawa has officially handed over a state-of-the-art Astroturf to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in Accra.

The President of the GFA, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, speaking at the commissioning ceremony at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence at Prampram, expressed his appreciation to BetPawa for their contribution to the country’s football development, describing the project as a significant milestone.

“The overall vision of the Football Association is to develop this facility into an iconic sporting hub, a home for nurturing talent.

This is where we will cultivate the next generation of superstars—the golden boys of football,” Okraku stated.

He emphasized that the newly inaugurated Astroturf marks the completion of the first phase of the project, with further investment planned for the second phase, which will commence soon.

Okraku also highlighted the importance of the partnership with corporate Ghana, especially with betPawa, calling it “a super exciting moment.

He noted that the facility would be accessible to all national teams, both male and female.

“Today, we will test the pitch, and from now on, it will be available for use by all our national teams. We currently have 20 national teams, so this project has come at the perfect time for our strategic development.”

The GFA President further highlighted the positive impact of Betpawa’s investment, noting that it will play a significant role in advancing the association’s goal of developing football talent in the country.

Mr. Charles Tape, Africa Business Development Manager at Betpawa, in his remark, expressed optimism about the company’s investment in sports development in Ghana.

He highlighted the initiative’s potential to transform the country’s sports landscape by creating opportunities for national teams to train and compete locally.

“The impact of this investment will allow different national teams to come and train, to come and play. I’m excited to see the next generation of talents emerge from this place.

He further explained that the project is being implemented in phases, with the first phase underway. “Right now, we’re focusing on the first phase. Once we have a timeline set up, we’ll move into the second phase.”

Betpawa’s ultimate goal, according to Mr. Tape, is to create a lasting influence on Ghanaian sports, nurturing future stars. “We’re aiming to have a big impact in Ghana, and we’re confident that the next superstar will emerge soon,” he added.
