Decision on Bayern Cup game in Saarbrücken not until Wednesday
A decision on whether Bayern Munich’s German Cup game at third division Saarbrücken can go ahead as planned in the wake of heavy rainfall will not be made until game day Wednesday, a Saarbrücken spokesman has said.
Saarbrücken’s league match against Dynamo Dresden on Sunday was abandoned at half-time because of the adverse pitch conditions.
The spokesman told dpa on Tuesday that staff is working on the water-logged Saarbrücken pitch. Saarbrücken are hopeful that the game can take place because there was no heavy rain overnight and dry weather is forecast for Wednesday.
The club has said the sold out second-round match can not be moved to another stadium in the region because those in question are also being used for mid-week Cup games.
