Dr. Orleans Lindsay Inaugurated As First Chancellor Of Cape Coast Technical University

The Executive Chairman of JL Holdings Ghana, Dr. Orleans Lindsay, has been officially inaugurated as the first Chancelor of Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) in a historic ceremony attended by government officials, dignitaries, and members of the academic community.

During his investiture speech, Dr. Lindsay expressed deep gratitude for the warm reception and unwavering support he has received from the CCTU community and the people of Cape Coast.

He acknowledged the challenges facing the university, including infrastructure needs like student hostels, lecture halls, and recreational facilities. He expressed optimism about resolving these challenges with support from government, alumni, and stakeholders, committing to transform the institution to better serve its students and the wider community.

Dr. Lindsay highlighted CCTU’s mandate under the Technical Universities Act, 2016, which emphasizes promoting technical and vocational education, fostering innovation, and forging industry partnerships. He assured that his leadership would prioritize these goals, which align with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those focusing on quality education, economic growth, and innovation.

“As the first Chancellor of this noble institution, I pledge to uphold the highest standards of academic excellence and ensure accessibility and affordability of our programs to all Ghanaians,” he said.

Dr. Lindsay outlined several strategic initiatives, including recruiting exceptional faculty, developing market-driven academic programs, and enhancing global partnerships. Leveraging his extensive business experience, he promised to connect CCTU with international institutions, positioning it as a leader in technological innovation and clean energy solutions.

The Chancellor also emphasized his commitment to entrepreneurship, aiming to empower students with skills to become self-reliant. He expressed confidence that CCTU would soon complete its proposed 40th Anniversary Students’ Hostel and announced his intention to collaborate with government and private stakeholders to address other infrastructure deficits.

He encouraged the students to explore their full potential to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development. He also appealed to alumni and stakeholders to support CCTU’s vision, ensuring its rise to become one of Africa’s top technical universities.

He described his investiture as a pivotal moment for the university, predicting a “tremendous paradigm shift” that would position CCTU among the best technical institutions worldwide.

Widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most influential business leaders, Dr. Orleans-Lindsay has built a business empire that spans multiple sectors, including construction, beverages, security, and agriculture.
