Former Buipe Polyclinic accountant forges signature to withdraw GHS430k from hospital’s account

The Auditor General, Mr. Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu has reported fraudulent withdrawals from the account of Buipe Polyclinic.

This is contained in the latest Auditor-General’s Report for the year ending December 2021 published on the website of the Audit Service.

In the report, the Auditor General has disclosed that a former accountant of the hospital, Osman Jamal-Deen forged the signature of the Medical Superintendent between January 2018 and April 2020 to withdraw a whopping sum of GH¢430,009.54 from the account of the hospital.

“We noted that between January 2018 and April 2020, Osman Jamal-Deen (the former Accountant) forged the signature of the Medical Superintendent at the Buipe Polyclinic and withdrew GH¢430,009.54 from the Hospital’s account,” part of the Auditor General’s Report reads.

The Auditor General after the revelation has charged the Medical Superintendent of Buipe Policlinic to go after Mr. Osman Jamal-Deen and retrieve the stolen money.

“We recommended that the Medical Superintendent should use legal means to recover from Mr. Osman Jamal-Deen, the amount of GH¢430,009.54,” the report of the Auditor General adds.
