German interior minister to discuss anti-Semitism, terrorist threats
German federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser sees anti-Semitism and the threat of Islamist terrorism as key topics at the state-level Conference of Interior Ministers (IMK), which begins on Wednesday.
“For me, the central topic of this conference of interior ministers is to continue to take joint action against the growing threat of Islamist terrorism and against the repugnant hatred towards Jews and Israel,” she told the German news portal T-Online.
The conference must also send a clear signal, according to Faeser.
“Jewish life is under the special protection of our state. We are doing everything we can for the safety of Jews in our country,” she said.
At the same time, she emphasized that there is an increased threat against them, particularly from Islamist terrorism.

“Right now, we need to keep a close eye on Islamist threats and stop further radicalization processes.”
The IMK will meet in Berlin this Wednesday for its three-day autumn conference. Faeser is a permanent guest at the state IMK, but does not have the right to vote.
