Germany counts over 1,000 events related to Israel-Hamas conflict
Since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, there has been a total of 1,068 events in Germany related to the conflict, according to the Interior Ministry.
There have been 553 pro-Israeli and 515 pro-Palestinian events, a ministry spokesman said in Berlin on Monday. The figures are provisional as there may be delays in the transmission of data to the Federal Criminal Police Office.
The spokesman was unable to say how many of the gatherings were characterized by Islamist slogans or symbolism.
A total of 99 events from the pro-Palestinian spectrum were banned because the authorities feared anti-Semitic offences.
According to the Interior Ministry, 3,150 criminal offences were recorded in Germany in connection with the Hamas attack; according to the spokesman, the majority of these were offences of resistance, incitement to hatred and damage to property.
