GNAG launches its Digitized Database System and Cooperative

The Ghana National Association of GARAGES (GNAG) has celebrated its 40 years of existence since 1982  as it currently has over 2 million members across the nation.

 

GNAG is the umbrella organization for all small-scale automobile repair workshop operations which includes, mechanics, welders, electricians, and Panel beaters.

 

As part of the celebration, GNAG also launched its Digitized Database System and cooperative. The launch which is in line with Ghana’s Digitization drive with the intrinsic goal to accelerate economic growth and facilitate job creation in the country.

According to the association, it decided to re-brand and restructure its activities for efficiency and effectiveness through the development of a database management system (DBMS) and a national cooperative, in exclusive partnership with Waltergates Ghana Ltd.

The theme for the launch is Restructuring for national growth and development through Digitization.

The digital database Management system comes with the registration of members according to regions, districts, zones, location, specialization, addresses, next of kin, contacts, and many more.

Adding that members will benefit from various schemes such as pension insurance schemes, investment schemes, life & funeral insurance schemes, health insurance, soft loans scheme and consumer credit scheme.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Trade and Industry Dr.John Hawkins Aseidu Technical Advisor -Industrial park special economic zones at the Ministry of Trade and Industry outlined some Government intervention laid to support the activities of the association.

The interventions he said include setting up training Institutions for members to be trained.

On his part Chairman of the association, Mr. Kwame Nsia Poku said to encourage them not to allow education to be a barrier to them but must endure to strive hard and embrace technology as means of setting a good pace for the association.
