NPP Parliamentary Primaries Results: Dr. S.K. Frimpong Surprises Asante Akyem North with Impressive Vote

In a stunning turn of events during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Primaries in Asante Akyem North, Dr. Samuel Kwadwo Frimpong, a first-time contender, has left the political landscape abuzz by securing an impressive 28.17% of the votes.

The incumbent, Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, managed to retain his seat with 39.79%, maintaining a lead but facing unexpected competition.

Dr. Frimpong’s candidacy gained momentum as he unveiled “The Restoration Agenda,” a visionary blueprint consisting of ten key points aimed at fostering community development. This comprehensive agenda touched on vital aspects such as healthcare, education, job creation, digital skills development, and sports engagement.

Distinct from conventional political narratives, “The Restoration Agenda” emphasized inclusivity and collaboration, transcending party lines for the greater good of Asante Akyem North.

In discussions with delegates post-elections, it became evident that Dr. S.K. Frimpong, currently serving as a Technical Economic Advisor to the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, was viewed as a unifier and a leader possessing exceptional qualities.

Many delegates expressed no surprise at his second-place finish, attributing it to his leadership skills. Some even contended that, if not for alleged vote-buying and the controversial swearing of oaths after receiving money by the incumbent MP and former MP, Dr. Frimpong might have emerged victorious with overwhelming support.

Dr. Frimpong’s impressive resume includes serving as the Administrative Liaison Officer during President Agyekum Kuffuor’s administration.

His ingenuity, eloquence, and ability to bridge divides led to his appointment as the Special Aide and Spokesperson for the late Former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Alhaji Aliu Mahama.

Despite being a newcomer to the NPP Asante Akyem Primaries, Dr. Frimpong has injected a sense of optimism and anticipation into the race. His candidacy sets the stage for a spirited contest that is expected to shape the future trajectory of the constituency in 2028.

Certified results for the Asante Akyem North Primaries are as follows:

Incumbent Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi: 226 votes (39.79%)

Former MP Kwadwo Baah Agyeman: 103 votes (18.13%)

Samuel Kwadwo Frimpong: 160 votes (28.17%)

Stephen Obeng Saka: 67 votes (11.80%)

Kwasi Kwarteng: 12 votes (2.11%)

In a viral video circulating, the incumbent MP is seen admitting to buying votes from delegates, expressing regret for this act. He advises the New Patriotic Party to take measures to avoid such practices in future elections, citing its contribution to the rising cost of elections in Ghana.
