President Akufo Addo’s nominee for the Tain District Chief Executive (DCE) position in the Bono Region, Dr. Lucy Acheampong promises to tackle education.
President Akufo Addo’s nominee for the Tain District Chief Executive (DCE) position in the Bono Region, Dr. Lucy Acheampong has indicated that she will tackle education head-on when approved by the Assembly Members for her area.
Speaking in her first media encounter with JoyFM after her nomination by the President, madam Lucy further stressed that education would lead in her development agenda for the district.
“So many of the girls end their education after Junior High School. The situation must change. I will ensure that the Secondary schools in Tain are also uplifted. And as an educationist, I will ensure we have quality teachers and teaching and learning in the district,” she disclosed in the interview.
The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Dan Botwe announced the President’s 260 Metropolitan, Municipal, District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) over the weekend in a press conference with the expected mix-feelings across the country.
The President is mandated for the appointment of the MMDCE’s under Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which is also subject to approval by the Assembly Members of the respective areas.
One other area the newly nominated Tain DCE vowed to improve is Agriculture, this she said is geared towards the President’s vision for the Agric Sector.
“I will take it upon myself with the stakeholders at Tain, come together and work as a team to make sure that farming is ensured throughout the year. So one district, one dam will be promoted for sustainable irrigation throughout the year,” she noted.
According to her, “what we need at Tain is not different from President Akufo-Addo’s vision to promote agriculture and planting for foods and jobs.”
Madam Lucy Acheampong disclosed that despite the stiff competition she was able to get through adding that she will embark on a reconciliation move in order to bring everyone on board in bringing development to Tain and its environs.

“When we went for the vetting, we were 15, and each had their own supporters. So definitely, when you are appointed, there might be opposition.
But what I am going to do is to sit down one-on-one with them to let them know that we are from the same home with one stool. But when we come together and work as a team, we will be able to achieve our goal,” she assured.
Other nominees in the Bono Region are Emmanuel Akone (Banda), Dominic Oppong (Berekum West), Francis Kwadwo Oppong (Dormaa West), Solomon Owusu (Jaman North), Andrews Bediako (Jaman South Municipal), Evans Kusi Boadum (Sunyani West), and Alex Oduro Damoah, (Wenchi Municipal).
