A Minister of the Gospel and President of the Up and Shine Foundation, Rev. Dr. Richard Nii Amartey Adesah, has commended three Assemblymen in the Akwapem South Municipality, near Nsawam, for heroically stopping robbers from stealing railway metals.
In a statement of encouragement to the three Assemblymen, Rev Dr. Adesah reiterated the need for Ghanaians to emulate such patriotic acts to ensure the progress of the country.
“We all need to emulate such nationalistic acts to ensure our progress. The situation where national assets were seen as no one’s property, should be a thing of the past,” he stated.
The Assemblyman of Fante Town Electoral area, Abdul-Lateef Saeed, that of Abaase Electoral Area, Iddrissu Musah, and Adjenase Piem Electoral area, Amegbo Raphael, all in Pakro, foiled an attempt by some robbers to steal wood from the railway lines passing through Pakro near Nsawam township, after laying ambush deep into the night.
The robbers abandoned the looted railway’s metals and bolted when the Assemblymen confronted them and later raised the alarm, attracting residents to the scene.
The police subsequently came in to take control of the situation.
This heroic and patriotic act has drawn the commendation of Rev. Dr. Richard Nii Amartey Adesah, the immediate past President of the Federation of Africa Amputee Football (FAAF), who believes it is a remarkable show of love for the nation.
“These are the things we should be encouraging so we can regain the days of the past where Ghanaians were ready to defend the nation at all times to the peril of their lives,” Rev. Dr. Adesah pointed out, adding that, the children and youth of today need to learn from it.
He was worried about the effect of such nefarious activities on the economy, considering the monies invested in railway construction by the government.

“Railways used to be a very effective means of transport to the nation and the government is currently working on revamping the sector with the importation of some coaches from Poland. Allowing these criminals to steal these metals is retrogressive,” he fumed.
He called on the nation to reward such persons to serve as examples for others. “They are heroes. Kudos to you”.
