WIUC Launches Cutting-Edge Cyber and AI Lab to Propel Ghana’s Tech Growth

The Wisconsin International University College (WIUC), known for its commitment to quality education and practical skill development, has inaugurated a cutting-edge Cyber, Digital Forensic System, and AI Laboratory within its School of Computing and Technology.

This initiative aligns with Ghana’s vision to enhance its cyber security infrastructure and drive technological progress.

At the ceremony held on July 9, 2024, in Accra, Minister for Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum emphasized the critical importance of cyber security in today’s interconnected world. He expressed gratitude to WIUC’s management for this significant addition, highlighting its impact on both the institution and the nation’s digital transformation journey.

“As we become increasingly interconnected, the need to protect our digital infrastructure and sensitive information from cyber threats becomes even more critical,” Dr. Adutwum noted. He expressed hope that the laboratory would equip students with essential skills to safeguard the digital future.

Dr. Adutwum also called on the private sector to support the government’s efforts in providing educational institutions with the necessary tools and resources to prepare students for the digital age. He showcased the government’s achievements in STEM education and the provision of modern technological facilities in Junior and Senior High schools.

President of WIUC, Prof. Obeng Mireku, added that the new center would offer consultancy services to corporate firms and government agencies to help combat cybercrime.

The facility was officially commissioned by Dr. Adutwum, alongside Chancellor Prof. Paul Kofi Fynn, WIUC management, and other dignitaries.
