HRRG and JRF urgently demand justice for ‘Madina teenager’ gang-defiled, impregnated by over twenty men

Human Rights Reporters Ghana and Justice Revived Foundation call for swift justice for Ama

Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) and the Justice Revived Foundation (JRF) are calling for urgent action following the shocking case of a 13-year-old girl, Ama, from Madina, Accra, who was allegedly subjected to gang-defilement.

Ama, a student at Madina No. 3 School, has accused over 20 individuals, including teenagers, of assaulting her starting in February 2025.

The assault has resulted in her becoming pregnant and facing emotional trauma. In her brave testimony, Ama identified the primary suspect, 45-year-old mason Clement Kwame, who reportedly lured her with false promises before forcing her into the terrible acts.

Kwame, who lives near Ama’s home, is believed to have coordinated the assault with several accomplices, some of whom are thought to be his friends.

Ama also reports that she was threatened to silence her, which made it difficult for her to seek help initially.

The case is now under investigation by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Madina. Although some arrests have been made, HRRG and JRF express concern that key suspects, including Kwame, are still at large.

They are demanding that authorities:

  • Speed up the investigation and handle Ama with care
  • Immediately arrest Clement Kwame and all other suspects
  • Prosecute everyone involved to the maximum extent of the law
  • Offer Ama comprehensive medical, psychological, and social support to deal with her trauma and pregnancy

“We are committed to pursuing justice,” said representatives of HRRG and JRF. “Every child deserves to be safe, and those responsible for this heinous crime must be held accountable.”

This tragic incident highlights the critical need for better protection of children against sexual violence in Ghana. HRRG and JRF call on government authorities, civil society, and the general public to strengthen efforts, enforce existing laws, and ensure an environment where children can thrive free from fear.
