The Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, is set to launch a comprehensive Career Guidance and Course Selection Programme targeted at final-year Senior High School (SHS) students across the region.
The launch of the initiative held on Monday, 2nd June 2025, is to equip students with the necessary tools and information to make informed academic and career decisions as they transition beyond SHS.
According to the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (ERCC), a total of 91 schools across the Eastern Region will benefit from this programme.
Addressing the event, the Regional Minister indicated that the program will be designed to provide students with professional guidance on career pathways, academic course choices, and future opportunities, aligning their strengths and aspirations with realistic educational and professional goals.
She said the initiative is also part of broader regional efforts to enhance student preparedness and reduce mismatches in tertiary education choices and labor market expectations.
She averred that the Municipality has 94 second cycle schools and “since last year we have taken it upon ourselves for a region to organize this exercise for the final year students from all these schools to give a supporting counseling and guidance towards their consolation.”
The Regional Minister emphasized that this programme reflects the government’s commitment to improving educational outcomes and ensuring that young people are well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to national development.
