“No Room for Cheating”: Asuogyaman MP Encourages BECE Excellence, Warns Against Exam Malpractice

While promising full educational support to high-performing students, Deputy Finance Minister and MP for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has issued a strong caution to BECE candidates: integrity matters just as much as results.
Speaking to students during a monitoring tour, the MP pledged to cover the entire SHS prospectus for those who secure single-digit aggregates. But he was quick to balance this generosity with a stern reminder about the importance of academic honesty.
“If anyone is caught cheating, it will bring disgrace not just to you but to the whole constituency,” he warned, underscoring his message with serious resolve.
The dual-pronged approach—rewarding excellence while reinforcing ethics—comes as 1,943 students take the BECE in the Eastern Region’s Asuogyaman District. The MP’s team, including DCE Godwin Bobobee and Education Director Augustina Owusu, visited multiple centres to motivate students and ensure smooth exam conditions.
By combining incentive-based motivation with values of discipline and accountability, Ampem Nyarko hopes to foster a new culture of success that is both ethical and sustainable.
