PRINPAG Mourns Victims of Helicopter Crash, Calls for Responsible Reporting
PRINPAG expresses condolences and urges responsible media coverage following the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight national figures

The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaians, including senior government officials and military personnel, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The incident, which occurred near Adansi Sikaman in the Ashanti Region, has plunged the nation into mourning. Among the victims were Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, and Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment.
The others who perished in the crash include Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr. Samuel Sarpong; Mr. Samuel Aboagye; Squadron Leader Peter Bafimi Anala; Flying Officer Twum Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah.
In a statement signed by Executive Secretary Jeorge Wilson Kingson and President Andrew Edwin Arthur, PRINPAG extended condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the Government of Ghana, the bereaved families, the Ghana Armed Forces, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the entire nation.
“This is a devastating national tragedy. We mourn the loss of these gallant individuals who served the country with dedication and distinction. Their contributions to Ghana will not be forgotten,” the statement said.
PRINPAG also called on all journalists, especially its members, to approach the coverage of the incident with sensitivity, accuracy, and professionalism. It urged media practitioners to avoid sensationalism and to respect the privacy of grieving families.

“This is a time for national reflection and unity. Behind every name lost is a family enduring unimaginable grief. As journalists, we must uphold the highest standards of ethics and responsibility,” PRINPAG advised.
The association called on the general public to show compassion, allow bereaved families the space to mourn in peace, and keep them in their thoughts and prayers. “May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
