Traders Advocacy Group Ghana Mourns Helicopter Crash Victims, Calls for Investigation

The Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight distinguished Ghanaians, including two serving ministers of state, near Adansi Sikaman in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday.

In a statement signed by TAGG President Kwadwo Amoateng and General Secretary Nana Poku, the group described the incident as “one of the most devastating tragedies in the history of our nation,” and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Government, and the people of Ghana.

“This heartbreaking incident has plunged our country into deep mourning,” the statement read. “As a nation, we have witnessed horror, and we collectively pray that such a calamity never befalls our country again.”

TAGG paid tribute to the victims — including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane-Boamah and Environment Minister Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed — praising them as leaders of “service, vision, and dedication.” The group also recognized the service of the military officers and government officials who died in the crash.

As part of its call to action, TAGG urged the Government of Ghana to launch a “full and transparent investigation” into the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine whether foul play was involved and to ensure accountability.

“We believe answers are necessary to bring closure and prevent similar incidents in the future,” the group stated.

TAGG called on all Ghanaians, regardless of faith, to unite in prayer and solidarity. “We ask for the comfort, strength, and guidance of God Almighty to uphold the bereaved. May both Christians and Muslims come together to pray for the souls of the departed and strength for the families they leave behind.”

Other signatories to the statement include Vice President of TAGG, Mr. Samuel Asare Addo; Deputy Secretary Juliet Kusi; Treasurer Mrs. Irene Victoria Odoom; Protocol Officer Abraham Yao Fianu; and National Organizer Daniel Fosu.

The crash, which has sent shockwaves across the country, has prompted national mourning and calls for answers as investigations get underway.
