MTN  Supports  Mepe Afenorto Festival with GH¢20,000 Cash Donation

Donation includes GH¢20,000 cash, airtime, and drink hampers to support festivities and community rebuilding efforts

MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to community development and cultural preservation with a donation of GH¢20,000 in cash, airtime worth GH¢1,000, and assorted drink hampers to support the 2025 Mepe Afenorto Festival in the Volta Region.

The presentation, held at a brief but colourful ceremony, was led by Mawuli Katehena, Sales and Distribution Team Lead for Volta and Oti, on behalf of MTN’s Eastern, Volta, and Oti Regional Manager, Ransford Gyan.

Present at the donation ceremony were Torgbe Kwasi Nego VI, Manklalo of the Mepe Traditional Area, members of the Mepe Traditional Council, and representatives of the Mepe Development Association.

In his remarks, Mr Gyan described this year’s celebration as one of “special and poignant significance,” noting that Mepe was the worst-hit community in the recent VRA Akosombo Dam flood disaster.

“We share in the pain and challenges this disaster has brought and salute the resilience, unity and determination with which you have begun to rebuild your lives and your community,” he said.

He also commended this year’s theme, “Unite for Peace and Development, Post-VRA Akosombo Dam Flood Disaster,” as a timely call for solidarity and progress.

Mr Gyan said the Afenorto Festival’s purpose of fostering unity and reconnecting families mirrors MTN’s mission of connecting people, families, friends and businesses across Ghana and beyond.

He added that festivals play a critical role in boosting local economies, creating opportunities and strengthening cultural identity  reasons why MTN supports more than 40 festivals annually across the country.

Receiving the items, Torgbe Kwasi Nego VI expressed appreciation to MTN for its unwavering support over the years. “Your donation comes at a crucial time for us as we rebuild our lives and infrastructure after the devastation of the Akosombo Dam spillage,” he said.

As part of the celebrations, MTN will set up sales stands at strategic locations in Mepe to give residents easier access to products and services. Dedicated customer service teams will also be on hand to address subscriber needs.
