Dr. Joseph Wemakor to inspire farmers on land rights and agricultural sustainability
Dr. Wemakor Set to Grace Farmers Care Program in Somanya as Special Guest of Honour

Eminence Lead International is set to host a transformative workshop for farmers under its flagship “Farmers Care Program” at the YKMFA Conference Hall, Yilo Krobo Senior High School, Somanya, on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
Themed “Sustainable Agriculture Business Practice for Robust Agriculture Development,” the event aims to educate and empower farmers with the knowledge and tools needed to promote sustainable farming, agribusiness resilience, and responsible land use.
The initiative is proudly supported by the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
A highlight of the program will be the participation of Dr. Joseph Kobla Wemakor, Executive Director of Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG), who has been invited as the Special Guest of Honour. Dr. Wemakor will deliver a compelling address on the topic: “Understanding Land Rights and Laws as a Farmer.”
Dr. Wemakor’s inclusion in this significant event comes as no surprise, given his extensive track record as a human rights advocate, journalist, and sustainable development champion.
His work has long bridged the gap between social justice and rural development, empowering farmers, landowners, and communities to understand their rights and engage in equitable and sustainable agricultural practices.
Through his leadership at Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG), Dr. Wemakor has spearheaded initiatives on land rights advocacy, child labour prevention in farming, climate adaptation, and ethical agribusiness, working closely with both governmental and civil society partners.
Joining Dr. Wemakor on the program are two eminent speakers: Dr. Felix Kwame Appiah, Technical Manager (Operations), Cocoa Health and Extension Division, COCOBOD, and Mr. Nicholas Nikoi, Unit Head of Agromarketing and Sales, Agricultural Development Bank (ADB).
Together, they will share expert insights on sustainable agricultural practices, agribusiness financing, and the future of Ghana’s farming landscape.
With over a decade of impact-driven leadership, Dr. Wemakor continues to inspire transformative change in communities across Ghana and beyond.
As the Convener of the Youth Sub-Platform of the Ghana Civil Society Organizations Platform on the SDGs, representing over 500 organizations, and a member of Ghana’s Advocacy Technical Committee for the draft Non-Profit Organization (NPO) Bill, he remains a key advocate for inclusive development and civic engagement.
His advocacy has earned him multiple awards, including the UN Global Entreps Award, Africa Peace Advocate Award (2023), and several international recognitions for his work in human rights, peacebuilding, and social development.
The Farmers Care Program is an initiative by Eminence Lead International designed to enhance the knowledge and welfare of Ghanaian farmers through education, innovation, and access to agricultural opportunities.
The Somanya workshop marks a major milestone in the program’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable farming practices and community empowerment.
