MTN Customer Wins Emirates-Sponsored Ticket to Dubai

MTN Ghana and Emirates reward customer loyalty through a strategic partnership offering travel discounts and premium benefits.

MTN Ghana loyal customer, Kwame Kwakye, has emerged as the winner of the MTN–Emirates Close User Group Offer (CUGO) promotion, earning a fully sponsored return ticket to Dubai.

The prize was presented at a brief ceremony in Accra, where officials highlighted the long-standing partnership between MTN Ghana and Emirates, aimed at delivering added value to customers beyond traditional telecom services.

Speaking at the event, Sandra Oduro, Senior Specialist for High Value Segments at MTN Ghana, said the promotion forms part of the company’s strategy to reposition itself as a lifestyle enabler rather than just a telecom provider.

She explained that through the MTN–Emirates CUGO platform, MTN customers can book flights seamlessly and enjoy discounts of up to 12 percent on selected Emirates economy and business class tickets.

According to her, the winner was randomly selected from MTN subscribers who travelled using the CUGO platform within the past year.

“As part of the reward, the winner receives a return ticket sponsored by Emirates, alongside enhanced connectivity support from MTN,” she said.

She added that MTN has also provided the winner with eSIM roaming services to ensure uninterrupted connectivity while in Dubai, as well as additional high-value services to enhance his travel experience. Ms. Oduro noted that the travel date remains flexible, allowing the winner to choose a convenient time.

She further indicated that MTN plans to reward more loyal customers through the partnership this year and encouraged subscribers who intend to travel to use the Emirates CUGO platform to enjoy exclusive discounts and benefits.

“The more customers patronise the platform, the more value and offers we can negotiate for them. Our goal is to build a global ecosystem where MTN customers enjoy lifestyle benefits wherever they go,” she stated.

Delivering remarks on behalf of Emirates, Sales Manager Cecil Nana Tenkorang described the collaboration as a reflection of how impactful partnerships can drive meaningful results.

He said the partnership, which began in 2014, has consistently delivered campaigns that reward loyalty, drive engagement, and create real value for customers.

He noted that the current campaign was designed not only to promote usage of the platform but also to celebrate customer achievement, adding that the winning ticket represents more than just a flight. “To our winner, you have earned more than a ticket; you have earned an experience with Emirates,” he said.

Mr. Tenkorang reaffirmed Emirates’ commitment to Ghana, noting that for over two decades, the airline has connected Accra to Dubai and onward to more than 150 destinations across six continents.

He said the airline remains proud of its contribution to Ghana’s tourism growth, economy, and international connectivity.

He further emphasized Emirates’ focus on delivering world-class service across all classes of travel, assuring customers of comfort, quality, and exceptional hospitality from check-in to arrival at their final destination.

Kwame Kwakye Shares His MTN Loyalty Journey

Winner Kwame Kwakye also shared his experience as a long-time MTN customer, describing his loyalty to the network as a defining part of his telecom journey.

“For me, it’s MTN or no other,” Kwakye said. “I’ve been with the network since the early 2000s, when getting a SIM card required an official letter. MTN has transformed the data and voice sector since then, improving coverage, roaming, and broadband services.”

He noted that the company’s continued investments have enabled him to enjoy ultra-high-speed broadband at home and seamless connectivity when travelling.

“The experience has been excellent, and I have no intention of moving away from MTN,” he added.

Commenting on the Emirates-sponsored prize, Kwakye described the recognition as well deserved, particularly for loyal customers. “As a postpaid customer, it feels great to be recognised. After years of commitment, this reward reflects MTN’s appreciation for its customers,” he said.

He expressed hope that future partnerships would be expanded to include hotel discounts and other travel-related services to further enhance value for loyal subscribers.

The MTN–Emirates partnership, which has spanned nearly a decade, continues to offer travel discounts and periodic rewards to customers, reinforcing both brands’ commitment to convenience, value, and a premium customer experience.
