Ghana Water Co. Ltd (GWCL), Winneba, has for whatever reasons, virtually concluded that its customers are its enemies.
This submission is based on some actions and inactions of GWCL, Winneba.
For close to two (2) weeks now, even though almost the entire Winneba township is flooded due to the incessant rains, the taps are not flowing and GWCL Winneba can’t be bothered to tell its customers the reason(s) why the taps are drier than desert conditions.
In addition to the above, about two (2) years ago, GWCL Winneba dug up the road at the only traffic lights in Winneba, possibly to replace the water transmission lines, which is routine.
However, after the replacement, GWCL Winneba cared less to put the surface of the road back in the condition that they met it.
For close to two (2) years, motorists had to maneuver through potholes at that section of the road, all because of GWCL Winneba ‘I don’t care attitude’.
A few months ago, the dynamic MCE for Effutu, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah, patched that section. Sadly, the contractor who executed the job appeared to be an appendage of GWCL Winneba, hence the potholes are back with a vengeance.
Another action of GWCL Winneba that points in the direction that it cares less about its customers is its inhumane attitude of cutting off the water supply (on the few occasions that water flows through the taps like dog urine) mostly in the mornings from about 6am after the taps have run through the night. What offence have some of us committed to be treated like beggars? The time that some of us are going to wash down and head to work, is the exact time that GWCL Winneba shuts the taps off. If customers of GWCL Winneba are not its perceived enemies, then what else are they to deserve this kind of treatment?
GWCL Winneba has the capacity to mount public address systems on pick up trucks to broadcast bill payment reminder messages to the community, but has no capacity to use a similar method to broadcast to the community reasons why the taps have been dry for the past two (2) weeks.
From the actions and inactions of GWCL Winneba, the Winneba Office appears to be managed by ‘Goro Boys’. Fact is, ‘Goro Boys’ care less about the service that they render; but only cares about the money they pocket from their customers.
It is high time GWCL Head Office appoint a competent person to lead its Winneba Office, since the current leadership of its Winneba Office is grossly incompetent.
Humbly submitted by the humble son of an upright peasant farmer.
