Newly elected Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Trobu Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Desmond Frimpong Manso, popularly known as “Cocroach,” has outlined ambitious plans to strengthen the party and accelerate grassroots development in the constituency.
Together with his newly sworn-in executives, Frimpong Manso has pledged to work tirelessly to mobilise massive support for the NPP in Trobu and contribute significantly to the party’s broader electoral fortunes, particularly ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Top on his agenda is strengthening unity within the constituency and building a formidable grassroots structure capable of delivering victory for the party.
The hardworking politician, who unseated incumbent Trobu Constituency Chairman Nana Kyei by a significant margin, has also pledged his unwavering support for the Member of Parliament for Trobu, Gloria Owusu.
Frimpong Manso expressed confidence in the MP’s leadership and hopes she will retain the seat in the 2028 elections to continue her work for the constituency and the New Patriotic Party.
From Football Administration to Politics
Before turning his attention to politics, Desmond Frimpong Manso was a well-known figure in Ghanaian football administration.
He made his mark in the mid-2000s when, as General Manager of Premier League side Kpando Heart of Lions, he played a key role in transforming the fortunes of the club and strengthening its competitiveness in Ghanaian football.
His exploits and the transformation he helped bring to the club subsequently earned him a national role with Ghana’s national Under-20 football team, the Black Satellites, where he served as Management Committee Chairman.
