Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has secured a commanding victory in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashanti Regional chairmanship election, taking control of the party in its traditional stronghold with nearly 71 per cent of the votes cast.
COKA, a former NPP Chairman for the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency, polled 658 votes, representing 70.98 per cent, to comfortably defeat his sole contender, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who garnered 269 votes, representing 29.02 per cent.
The emphatic victory hands COKA the responsibility of leading the NPP in the Ashanti Region as the party begins the critical task of rebuilding its structures and positioning itself for a return to power in the 2028 general elections.
Following his election, COKA immediately struck a conciliatory tone, calling on members to put the internal contest behind them and close ranks for the larger political battle ahead.
“Now, the election is over, family. As we are done with the election, we need to now unite. If we don’t come together, we will not be able to win power. Let’s unite to win power,” he told delegates.
His victory was accompanied by the election of a new regional executive team expected to steer the affairs of the party in the region.
Amofa Jantuah was elected First Vice Chairman, while Addai Opoku Aikins secured the Second Vice Chairman position.
Dr Francis Adomako was elected Regional Secretary, with Kingsley Bonsu Kyeretie taking the Deputy Secretary position.
Other elected executives include Denis Kwakwa as Organiser, Martin Ameyaw as Youth Organiser, Beatrice Owusu as Women’s Organiser and Helena Mensah as Treasurer.
Keskine Owusu Poku was elected Communication Officer, while Abubakar Razak secured the Nasara Organiser position.

COKA’s decisive victory places him at the centre of the NPP’s rebuilding efforts in the Ashanti Region, a crucial electoral bloc for the party.
His immediate challenge will be to unite the various factions that emerged from the regional contest, strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and mobilise supporters ahead of the 2028 elections.
