The Beacon of Hope Mission, founded by global director Kelly Markey, continues to expand its international humanitarian and literary footprint with a mission dedicated to restoring hope, dignity, and healing across communities impacted by suicide, trauma, cancer, mental health challenges, and life-altering diagnoses.
Established as a global mission to “sprinkle hope around the world,” Beacon of Hope Mission exists to serve individuals and communities whose lives have been fractured by adversity. Through storytelling, advocacy, and international recognition platforms, the organisation amplifies voices of resilience and transformation.
Its publishing division, Markey Writing Academy, has become a powerful global platform for authors to share lived experiences that inspire healing and social change, providing opportunities for voices from diverse backgrounds to reach international audiences.
Global Awards Honouring Excellence and International Book Launch
The annual Beacon of Hope Mission Awards was created to honour individuals whose lives and work reflect courage, impact, and transformational leadership. Since its inception, the awards have been hosted across multiple international locations, beginning in New York City, followed by an exclusive ceremony at the private reserve of Bonamanzi Game Reserve in South Africa, and now continuing its global journey in New Zealand on 29 August 2026.
Our global anthology “Manifesto of Hope” will be launched at the event in NZ. Join us with local community Hope agents as we work in concert to champion hope.

Beacon of Hope Mission Merit Award for Leader with Innovation
The prestigious Beacon of Hope Mission Award 2026 is presented to Deano Govender, acknowledging his outstanding leadership, innovation, and commitment to sustainable community transformation. True leadership is not measured by influence alone, but by the lives transformed through it. Deano Govender, recipient of the Beacon of Hope Mission Award 2026, exemplifies this through his unwavering commitment to innovation, empowerment, and community transformation. As founder of Red Edge Holdings and Traxter Tyres Africa, he has built more than businesses — he has created sustainable platforms of hope and opportunity. From grassroots beginnings to global impact, his legacy continues to restore dignity, strengthen communities, and inspire meaningful change for generations to come.

Founder’s Statement
“Beacon of Hope Mission was born from a deep conviction that even in the most broken places, hope can be restored. We exist to honour stories that would otherwise go unheard, to uplift voices that carry healing, and to create global platforms where transformation is not only witnessed but celebrated. Every award, every story, and every publication is a reminder that hope is not passive—it is active, living, and world-changing.” — Kelly Markey.
