Madina Member of Parliament (MP) Francis-Xavier Sosu is doing well and has received medical attention after he collapsed while speaking at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
The MP’s office, in a statement issued after the incident, said Dr Sosu had received the necessary medical attention and urged the public to disregard unverified reports and speculation circulating on social media.
“We wish to assure the general public, constituents, supporters, and well-wishers that Hon. Dr. Francis-Xavier Sosu is doing well and has received the necessary medical attention,” the statement said.
The incident occurred during an engagement at GIMPA.
Classfmonline.com, which viewed footage of the incident shared on social media, observed the lawyer and MP speaking animatedly about the essence of servant leadership when his voice suddenly dropped.
He lowered the microphone from his lips and appeared disoriented and overcome with tiredness, requiring support.
A man and a woman promptly went on stage and held him on either side while another man later joined them and stood behind the MP.
Sosu subsequently collapsed into their arms as they supported him away from the stage.
His office has expressed appreciation for the concern, prayers and messages of support for the MP.
“We sincerely appreciate the concern, goodwill, prayers, and numerous messages of support received following the incident.”
It also urged the public to remain calm.
“We kindly urge the public to remain calm, and to avoid relying on unverified reports or speculation circulating on social media. Further information will be communicated through the Office’s official channels as and when necessary,” the statement read.
The statement was signed by Ivan Dzakpasu, Chief of Staff at the Office of the Member of Parliament for Madina.
