Gospel musician Essi Donkor has taken her commitment to supporting education in her hometown a step further, donating school supplies to students in Ekumfi Akwansa Kokodo in the Central Region and putting a GH¢2,000 prize on the table for academic excellence.
The initiative saw students receive exercise books, school bags, pens, mathematical sets and other essential learning materials to support them in their studies.
The donation is part of Essi Donkor’s efforts to give back to the community and contribute to the development of children and young people in the area.
Addressing the students during the presentation, Essi Donkor encouraged them to make education a priority and remain committed to their studies.
She reminded them that the support they had received was intended to help them concentrate on their education and urged them to use the materials responsibly.

The musician also encouraged the students to remain disciplined, work hard and develop the determination needed to achieve their academic ambitions.
She told them that education could provide them with opportunities to improve their lives and contribute meaningfully to the development of their families and community.
The presentation attracted appreciation from beneficiaries and community members, who welcomed Essi Donkor’s decision to return to her hometown and invest in the younger generation.
But the initiative did not end with the distribution of school materials.
Essi Donkor’s team lead, Gentletheblogger, used the occasion to issue a challenge to the students ahead of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
He urged them to take their books seriously, study consistently and work towards securing good grades in the examination.
“Learn hard and pass your BECE. We want to see you do well because your success will make your parents, teachers and the entire community proud,” Gentletheblogger told the students.
He further disclosed that Essi Donkor’s management would reward the student who records the highest grade in the BECE with GH¢2,000.
The announcement immediately added an academic incentive to the donation, with students being encouraged to see the examination as an opportunity to demonstrate their hard work and commitment.
The GH¢2,000 reward is expected to encourage the students to compete positively and motivate one another to aim for higher academic results.
For Essi Donkor, however, the intervention is not simply about handing out school materials or offering a cash prize.
It is also about reminding children in her hometown that their education matters and that their efforts can attract recognition and support.
The initiative reflects her desire to use her platform to make a practical contribution to the community where she comes from, particularly by supporting children at an important stage of their education.
The donated materials are expected to ease some of the everyday challenges students face in obtaining basic stationery, while the promised BECE reward provides an additional incentive for them to remain focused.
Community members also welcomed the gesture as a positive contribution towards encouraging children to stay in school and take their education seriously.
The students were consequently encouraged to make good use of the materials, listen to their teachers, study hard and prepare adequately for the BECE.
Essi Donkor’s intervention in Ekumfi Akwansa Kokodo ultimately carries a simple message: meaningful change can begin with supporting one child, one classroom and one community at a time.

With the GH¢2,000 prize now awaiting the student who achieves the highest BECE grade, the challenge has been placed firmly before the beneficiaries—to turn the support they have received into academic success.
