An aspiring executive member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kpando Constituency, Gawu Godsway, has pledged to champion the digital transformation of the party’s grassroots structures to improve organisation, communication and youth participation.
Mr Godsway, an educator with a degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), is contesting for an executive position on a platform focused on modernising constituency operations and strengthening engagement between party executives and members at the branch level.
As part of his campaign agenda, he intends to use his ICT background to improve database management, streamline record-keeping and strengthen communication between constituency and branch executives.
He said the growing importance of technology in political organisation required party structures to adopt more efficient systems for managing information, coordinating activities and engaging members.
His proposals include the use of digital tools to improve voter data management, communication and outreach to support the party’s planning, mobilisation and organisation across the constituency.
Mr Godsway has also placed youth empowerment at the centre of his campaign, pledging to organise practical ICT and digital skills training for young party members and executives.
He said the training would seek to equip beneficiaries with relevant digital skills, enhance their employability and build their capacity to take up leadership and organisational responsibilities.
“As an educator with a degree in ICT, my passion has always been serving our community and equipping people with the tools to succeed,” he stated.
Highlighting his experience in party activities, Mr Godsway said he had served as a member of the UW 10 executives and the Central Regional NDC Youth Organiser’s Communication Team before deciding to contest the position.
He added that, during the 2024 general election, he was selected to lead the teachers serving on the parliamentary candidate’s collation team in the Kpando Constituency.
Mr Godsway said his experience as an educator had also exposed him to some of the challenges confronting teachers, students, young people and families in the Kpando Constituency.
He said those experiences had shaped his approach to leadership and strengthened his commitment to service, accessibility and engagement with party members.
Beyond his digital agenda, Mr Godsway said he would prioritise active listening and inclusive participation if elected.
According to him, his teaching experience has strengthened his communication skills, patience and ability to work with people from different backgrounds.
His campaign also seeks to strengthen cooperation between younger and older members of the party, improve coordination among branches and encourage broader participation in constituency activities.
Mr Godsway is contesting under the theme, “A Modern Approach to Party Organization: Expertise Meets Service.”
He said the theme reflects his intention to combine his professional and technical experience with grassroots service to improve the effectiveness of the party’s structures in the constituency.
Mr Godsway, who will appear as number 10 on the ballot, has appealed to delegates to consider his proposals as they choose their constituency executives.
He pledged to pursue a leadership approach centred on service, accountability, technology-driven efficiency, youth development and stronger engagement with party members.
