For many talented Ghanaians, the difference between potential and progress is the opportunity to remain in school, complete a qualification, and put new knowledge to work.
This October, the MTN Ghana Foundation will help close that gap by awarding 500 scholarships to low-income, high-potential students teachers studying in public tertiary institutions across Ghana.
By reducing financial barriers for students and supporting teachers to deepen their academic and professional capabilities, the Bright Scholarships continues to support the people at the heart of Ghana’s development: learners preparing to contribute to the economy and educators shaping the next generation.
Investing in people, strengthening Ghana’s future
Of the 500 scholarships, 300 will support brilliant but needy students and 200 will enable teachers to advance their academic and professional development.
Beneficiaries have been selected from all 16 regions, extending opportunity nationwide. Special consideration has been given to applicants from the six newly created regions: Northeast, Savannah, Ahafo, Bono East, Western North and Oti.
Ghana’s development ambitions depend on a skilled, inclusive and future-ready population.
MTN Ghana Foundation’s support for students through the Bright Scholarships expands the country’s pool of talent while investing in teachers multiplies the impact, because every better-equipped educator can influence many more learners over time.

The 2026 scholarship awards will be presented at two ceremonies:
-
Southern Sector: Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Accra.
-
Northern Sector: Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) campus, Kumasi.
The ceremonies will recognise the beneficiaries’ achievements and amplify the larger purpose of what becomes possible when access to education is widened.
Each scholarship is the Foundation’s investment in a student’s future, a teacher’s influence and Ghana’s capacity to build stronger communities and a more productive economy. The 2026 awards also form part of activities marking MTN Ghana’s 30th anniversary.

Background of the Bright Scholarships
The Bright Scholarship programme reflects MTN Ghana’s sustainability objective of creating shared value through inclusive development.
Education connects that ambition to measurable national impact by equipping people with knowledge and skills, supporting social mobility and helping build the human capital Ghana needs for long-term growth.
Launched in 2018, the Bright Scholarships fulfil a commitment MTN made to Ghanaians during its 20th anniversary in 2016, when the company, through the Foundation, pledged to award 300 scholarships over three years.
After the programme demonstrated its value in the initial phase, the Foundation renewed it in 2021 to coincide with MTN Ghana’s 25th anniversary.
The 2026 awards carry that commitment forward, turning a milestone in MTN’s history into sustained investment in Ghana’s future.
