Goaso, Ahafo Region – The Principal of High Lady Beautician School in Goaso, Mrs. Dorothy Bonsu, has called on young people to embrace vocational and entrepreneurial skills as a pathway to self-employment and economic empowerment.
Speaking during an interaction with the media at the school’s premises, Mrs. Bonsu announced that the institution has opened admissions for a new batch of students for its beauty and cosmetology programmes.
According to her, vocational education has become increasingly relevant in addressing youth unemployment, as it equips learners with practical skills that can be translated into sustainable businesses and career opportunities.
She said High Lady Beautician School offers training in Wig Making, Hairdressing, Makeup Artistry, Hair Braiding, Nail Technology, and other beauty-related disciplines through a curriculum that combines classroom instruction with practical sessions.
Mrs. Bonsu noted that the institution is committed to producing graduates who are not only technically competent but also equipped with entrepreneurial knowledge to establish their own businesses.
«”The beauty industry continues to create opportunities for young people. We want to encourage the youth to take skills training seriously because it provides a practical route to self-employment and financial independence. With commitment and the right training, they can build successful careers and even employ others,” she said.»
She further stated that graduates of the school receive certificates recognized by the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI), enabling them to pursue employment opportunities within and outside Ghana or establish their own beauty enterprises.
Also addressing the gathering, Christiana Bossman, an Examiner with the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) in Sunyani, underscored the importance of accredited vocational education in improving the quality of technical and skills training across the country.
She encouraged prospective students to enrol in accredited institutions that adhere to national training standards, stressing that certified vocational education enhances employability and supports the government’s efforts to promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
«”Skills development remains one of the most effective ways of tackling unemployment. Young people should take advantage of institutions that provide quality training and recognised certification, as these qualifications can open doors to both employment and entrepreneurship,” Ms. Bossman stated.»
Located off Atta Mills Road in Goaso, the Ahafo Regional capital, High Lady Beautician School provides practical training in beauty and cosmetology with a focus on professional competence and entrepreneurship.
School authorities said the current admission exercise forms part of efforts to expand access to vocational education and equip more young people with marketable skills for the evolving beauty industry.
