Bekwai Member of Parliament Hon. Ralph Poku-Adusei has identified party unity, disciplined grassroots mobilisation, youth empowerment and effective communication as key priorities for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as it works towards a return to power in 2028.
The MP outlined these priorities during a meeting with newly elected executives of the Kokofu Nursing and Midwifery Training College (KNMTC) branch of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) and the Bekwai Constituency executives of the party at his residence.
The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration between the constituency leadership and the student wing, with particular attention to the role of young party members in advancing the NPP’s political agenda.
The engagement also signals an effort to consolidate cooperation between the NPP’s constituency leadership and its student wing, with unity, youth empowerment and strategic communication identified as central pillars of its 2028 ambitions.
Mr Poku-Adusei said the discussions centred on the party’s broader vision for the next general election and the need to establish a coordinated approach to mobilisation and public communication.
“Our discussions focused on the broader vision and strategy of the NPP to return to power in 2028 — anchored on unity, disciplined grassroots mobilization, youth empowerment, and the effective communication of our record and alternative policy proposition to Ghanaians,” he stated.
The MP’s comments underscore the importance of presenting a coherent message to voters while strengthening internal cooperation across the party’s organisational structures.
He also highlighted the value of bringing TESCON leaders and constituency executives together to build relationships, exchange ideas and coordinate their activities.
“The engagement was an opportunity to fraternise, strategise and deepen collaboration between TESCON and the Constituency as we chart a common path forward,” he said.
Mr Poku-Adusei further stressed that young people must be actively involved in the party’s organisational and political activities, particularly as preparations for the 2028 elections gather momentum.
He urged the newly elected TESCON executives, led by President Asiedu Richard Adofo, to embrace leadership responsibilities and maintain standards that would strengthen the party’s reputation among students and the general public.
“I charged the new executives, led by President Asiedu Richard Adofo, to provide responsible, inclusive and results-oriented leadership, remain academically focused, and serve as credible ambassadors of the party on campus,” the MP said.
He maintained that building a strong youth front would require sustained cooperation between campus-based party groups and constituency leadership rather than isolated political activities.
The approach, as outlined by the MP, places grassroots organisation and youth participation alongside the need for effective communication of the party’s record and proposed policy alternatives.
For the NPP, campus structures such as TESCON provide an avenue for political engagement among tertiary students, while constituency organisations offer established channels for community-level mobilisation.
Mr Poku-Adusei said the Bekwai Constituency leadership was committed to strengthening this relationship as part of the party’s preparations for the next electoral contest.
“Together with the Constituency leadership, we are committed to building a stronger, more energized youth front to secure victory in 2028,” he stated.
The MP’s position reflects an emphasis on organisational unity and a coordinated grassroots strategy as the party seeks to improve its electoral prospects.
He concluded by congratulating the newly elected TESCON executives and expressing readiness to work with them.
“Congratulations to the new executives. We move forward together,” Mr Poku-Adusei said.
