David Prah Expresses Heartfelt Gratitude To Dr. Adutwum And Other Dignitaries For Attending Late Mother’s Funeral At Tarkwa Huni Valley

Former Director-General of the Ghana TVET Service and past Eastern Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. David Prah, has extended his heartfelt appreciation to former Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and a host of distinguished personalities who attended the final funeral rites of his late mother, Obaapanyin Hannah Mensah, at Tarkwa Huni Valley in the Western Region.

In a message of thanksgiving issued on behalf of the Prah family, Mr. Prah described the presence and support of Dr. Adutwum and his delegation as a deeply comforting act of solidarity during a moment of profound grief.

“On behalf of the Prah Family at Tarkwa Huni Valley, we express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for your attendance and support during the final funeral rites of our beloved mother, Obaapanyin Hannah Mensah,” Mr. Prah wrote.

The funeral, which took place over the weekend, was a dignified occasion that brought together key figures from across government, academia, and the NPP fraternity. Among the notable guests were Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament and Ranking Member for Defence, Interior, and National Security; Dr. Eric Nkansah, former Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES); Dr. Essibu, CEO of Ideal College; and Mr. Adomako Baafi, former National Communications Director of the NPP.

Also present were members of the NPP Eastern Regional Communications Team, staff from the Ghana TVET Service, and colleagues from Nifa Senior High School in Adukrom.

Despite the sadness surrounding the occasion, Mr. Prah emphasized that the comforting presence of such prominent individuals provided immense consolation to the entire family.

“Though we were sad because of the demise of our mother, your great support in this difficult moment got us comforted,” he said.
“Your attendance, support, and donation made the funeral a memorable one.”

He went on to describe the visiting delegation, particularly from the education sector, as “a great team of all time.”

“What a caring team! This has been super,” he added. “The love you have shown is unparalleled. I’m so happy to have you all as my team and colleagues.”

Known for his dedication to public service and grassroots political engagement, Mr. Prah also used the opportunity to appreciate everyone—friends, colleagues, institutions, and community members—who contributed in diverse ways, whether through presence, prayers, encouragement, or donations.

“The family, we say thank you so much. Indeed, we are grateful,” he emphasized. “We ask for traveling mercies for all team members. May God bless us all.”

Former Education Minister’s Thoughtful Tribute

In a quiet moment with the family, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum offered words of encouragement and reflected on the invaluable legacy of the late Obaapanyin Hannah Mensah. He described her as a woman of discipline, resilience, and deep maternal love.

“This is not only a family’s loss but a community’s. A mother’s impact is seen in the values she instills, and clearly, Madam Hannah Mensah instilled values of excellence and service,” Dr. Adutwum shared.

His tribute resonated with many at the event, particularly as he remains one of the most respected figures in Ghana’s education landscape, having served with distinction as Minister for Education. His presence at the funeral reinforced the strength of professional and personal bonds he maintains even after his tenure in public office.

A Mother Celebrated, A Legacy Honoured

Obaapanyin Hannah Mensah, whose life was being celebrated, passed away at the age of 76 following a brief illness. She was widely respected in the Tarkwa Huni Valley community for her deep faith, wisdom, and commitment to family values.

The funeral was marked by a traditional wake-keeping on Friday, followed by a burial and thanksgiving service on Saturday, and a final family gathering on Sunday. Tributes flowed from relatives, friends, and colleagues who fondly remembered her strength of character, gentle spirit, and the values she passed on to her children and grandchildren.

In his remarks at the funeral, Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour highlighted the importance of unity and community in times of grief.

“We are here not just for David, but to honour the life of a woman whose values shaped a man of commitment and service,” he said.

Dignitaries who could not attend in person also sent messages of condolence, further demonstrating the high regard in which Mr. Prah and his family are held.

Public Reactions And Support

The funeral was praised for its level of organization and the peaceful, heartfelt atmosphere that characterized it. Many residents of Tarkwa Huni Valley expressed joy at seeing national figures visit their community, noting that it symbolized respect and humility.

Across social media, tributes poured in for both Mr. Prah and his late mother. Friends and supporters commended him for his grace during the mourning period and for publicly acknowledging every form of support, no matter how small.

“It’s rare to see such public figures be so intentional about gratitude. Mr. Prah has shown us that humility and honour still matter,” one mourner commented on Facebook.

As he prepares to resume his professional and political engagements, Mr. Prah’s message stands as a reminder of the importance of compassion, community, and honouring those who stand by us in our most difficult moments.

The Prah family has also hinted at the possible launch of a memorial foundation in the name of Obaapanyin Hannah Mensah, aimed at supporting women and children in the Tarkwa Huni Valley area. Such an initiative would continue her legacy of love and service, qualities that defined her life.
