Abuakwa South MP Transforms Basic Education Through STEM-Focused Quiz Competition
Dr. Kingsley Agyemang is not your average Member of Parliament. While others focus on roads and water, he is planting the seeds of intellectual and technological revolution in Abuakwa South. His flagship educational initiative—the Kingsley Maths and Science Quiz—is just one part of a broader vision.
As he celebrated the sixth successful edition of the competition, which saw Asiakwa R/C Primary School and Apedwa Presby JHS emerge as champions in spelling and STEM categories respectively, Dr. Agyemang shared future plans that stretch far beyond Ghana’s borders.
He revealed ongoing negotiations with international partners, including stakeholders from Hollywood, to establish Africa’s largest movie studio and an artificial intelligence (AI) centre right in Abuakwa South.
“It’s time to link education to innovation. We are not just preparing our children to pass exams but to lead in the fourth industrial revolution,” Dr. Agyemang said.
According to him, the AI centre will provide coding, robotics, and multimedia training to young people, while the movie studio will serve as a hub for creative industries, attracting talent and investment from across Africa and beyond.
Such ambitions are backed by a track record of consistency. For six years, Dr. Agyemang has fully funded the quiz initiative, provided schools with learning materials, and worked in close partnership with the Abuakwa South Municipal Education Office.
Municipal Director of Education, Comfort Ofori Appiah, has urged other organizations to partner with the MP to scale the initiative. “This project is a game-changer. With more support, we can reach every child in the municipality and possibly replicate this model nationwide,” she said.
In a country seeking answers to youth unemployment and educational quality, Dr. Agyemang’s model offers a compelling blueprint: invest early, dream big, and never underestimate the potential of young minds.
