The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) has announced a significant upward adjustment in sachet water prices, set to take effect from Monday, April 6, 2026, citing mounting production pressures.

Under the new pricing guidelines, the ex-factory price for a bag of 500ml sachet water (30 sachets) has been pegged at GHS8, with an ex-truck price of GHS10, while the maximum retail price is expected to hit GHS15 per bag.

The Association clarified that the revised rates are not mandatory but serve as a benchmark to guide producers, distributors, and retailers across the country.

NASPAWAP attributed the increase primarily to escalating production costs, driven by a global shortage of polymers essential raw materials used in sachet packaging. The situation, it noted, has been aggravated by ongoing geopolitical tensions, including the conflict in Iran, which has disrupted supply chains and pushed input costs higher.

The development is expected to impact millions of Ghanaians who rely on sachet water as their main source of drinking water, raising fresh concerns about affordability amid broader economic pressures.

Producers have therefore urged retailers and consumers to comply with the new pricing structure to maintain stability and fairness within the market.

While acknowledging the burden on consumers, the Association appealed for public understanding, stressing that the price adjustment is critical to sustaining operations in the face of persistent cost increases.
