The Electricity Company of Ghana and the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) have secured the support of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council for a major power infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving electricity supply in the Volta Region.
The two power agencies received the assurance during a meeting with Volta Regional Minister James Gunu in Ho, where discussions focused on the urgent need to strengthen electricity reliability to support the region’s economic expansion.
Mr Gunu said key projects under the Volta Economic Corridor, including a proposed industrial park, would require a stable electricity network to attract investors and sustain industrial growth.

He assured ECG and GRIDCo that the Regional Coordinating Council, municipal and district assemblies, as well as traditional authorities, would support efforts to facilitate land acquisition and community engagement to prevent delays in execution.
The Minister expressed confidence that the planned upgrade would not only improve power stability across the Volta Region but also extend benefits to some communities in the neighbouring Oti Region.
He also commended the collaboration between ECG and GRIDCo, describing the intervention as a significant move toward addressing the region’s long-standing power supply challenges.
