Zoomlion Ghana Limited has assured workers under the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) Fumigation Project that all outstanding salary arrears will be paid once delayed government funds are released.
The assurance follows concerns raised by fumigation workers across the country over delays in the payment of their salaries.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the company said it was aware of the financial difficulties the delayed payments had caused and remained committed to settling all legitimate arrears as soon as the necessary funds were received.
According to Zoomlion, the delays were caused by the late release of funds under the MMDA Fumigation Project and did not reflect the company’s normal payment practices.
The company stated that it had maintained a strong record of meeting its obligations to employees and field operatives engaged under the fumigation project over the past 15 years. It described the current situation as an exception rather than the norm.
Zoomlion said it had been engaging continuously with the Government of Ghana and the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to facilitate the release of the outstanding funds due under the contract.
The company indicated that the discussions had been constructive and that it had received assurances that the processes required for the disbursement of the funds were being finalised.
Management reiterated that all arrears owed to workers under the project would be settled promptly once the outstanding payments were received from the relevant authorities.
The company expressed appreciation to the affected workers for their patience and continued commitment despite the delays, noting that their work had been instrumental in supporting vector control and environmental sanitation interventions across communities nationwide.
Zoomlion also acknowledged the constitutional right of workers to express their concerns peacefully and appealed to them to remain calm while ongoing engagements continued.
The company said it remained confident that the matter would be resolved through dialogue and cooperation with government and local authorities.
It further reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of its employees and to delivering quality environmental sanitation services in support of national development.
