Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has assured industry leaders that Ghana is entering a new phase of economic transformation, with a new development blueprint expected to be unveiled in the 2027 Budget.
Speaking at a meeting with the leadership of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and other key industry players, Dr Ato Forson urged businesses to invest with confidence, assuring them that government would work to sustain the country’s recent macroeconomic gains.
“Feel free to invest because we will sustain the gains. The golden era for Ghana is beginning, and our new blueprint will be announced in the 2027 Budget,” he said.
The Finance Minister said the 2027 Budget would signal a shift from economic stabilisation to transformation, building on what he described as significant improvements in the macroeconomic environment.
He pointed to President John Dramani Mahama’s plan to invest US$10 billion in strategic sectors over the next four years as a key pillar of the government’s economic transformation agenda.
“We want to produce more, add value, and create more jobs for the Ghanaian economy. This means addressing the fundamental challenges we face as a country,” Dr Ato Forson said.
He also appealed to businesses to support government’s revenue mobilisation efforts, stressing the need to reduce reliance on borrowing.
“We need your support to raise the necessary revenue so that the Government does not borrow beyond its means, as we saw in 2022,” he added.
