The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Ghana has announced the final funeral arrangements for its late Secretary General, Dr. Helen M. Osei, while also revealing plans to confer on her a prestigious posthumous peace award in recognition of her contributions to national unity and global peacebuilding.
In a statement issued in Accra, UPF Ghana, in collaboration with Dr. Osei’s family and the UPF Africa Secretariat, said preparations had been finalized to celebrate the life and legacy of the late peace advocate and leader.
As part of the tribute, Dr. Osei will be posthumously honoured with the Mother Icon of Peace (MiP) Award by the Association of the Ambassadors for Peace of Ghana.
The award, regarded as one of the association’s highest honours, is in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments, maternal leadership, and lifelong commitment to promoting peace and social cohesion.
According to the statement, funeral and burial services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Katherina Stinard Training Centre on Dr. Kumah Street, Spot M, Ofankor, Accra. The funeral service is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by the burial service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
A thanksgiving service will take place on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the Peace Makers International Hall, Mile 7, New Achimota, Accra, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
UPF Ghana said the funeral would attract a number of dignitaries, including selected government officials, delegates from other African countries, and the Continental Secretary General of UPF Africa, reflecting Dr. Osei’s influence across the continent and within the global peace movement.
The organization urged all attendees to adhere strictly to the scheduled times due to protocol arrangements.
Chairman of UPF Ghana, Hon. Frank Fuseini Adongo, described the late Secretary General as a devoted servant of humanity whose legacy would continue to inspire future generations.

“As we prepare to bid farewell to our beloved sister, mother and leader, we do so with a mix of sorrow and hope. The posthumous Mother Icon of Peace Award stands as a powerful tribute to a life devoted to serving humanity,” he said.
UPF Ghana also expressed appreciation to members of the global peace network, stakeholders, and the general public for the support and condolences extended to the organization and the bereaved family following Dr. Osei’s passing.
