Veteran Ghanaian musician and dancer Akosua Agyapong has publicly confirmed that she is single, revealing that she has been out of marriage for some time.
Speaking in an interview on Angel TV, the entertainer said her relationship status is not new information, explaining that she has addressed the issue on several occasions.
“Honestly speaking, I’m single now. I’ve been single for a while,” she said.
Akosua explained that many people still believe she is married, prompting her to set the record straight.
“It’s on my status that I’m married, and I want to clarify it. I’ve done that on several shows, not just this one. The last time I was on Gifty Anti’s show, I also said I am single now and no longer married,” she stated.
The musician also dismissed suggestions that her comments were connected to her past relationship with veteran highlife artiste Amandzeba Nat Brew, stressing that the relationship ended more than two decades ago.
“Amandzeba was in the year 2000. It has nothing to do with my marriage, and I don’t want to talk about it,” she said.
Akosua used the opportunity to argue that celebrities have the right to keep their private lives away from public scrutiny, insisting that personal relationships should not define a musician’s career.
“As a musician, your private life has nothing to do with your career. You don’t need to grant interviews detailing everything that caused your marriage to end. The other person might be going through worse than yours,” she noted.

She further advised people not to apportion blame when marriages fail.
“If it is a problem, pack your goods and go your way. If marriage doesn’t work, it’s no one’s fault,” she said.
Akosua Agyapong was previously in a relationship with veteran musician Amandzeba Nat Brew before later marrying Prophet Daniel Asamoah-Larbi.
