The Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana (KAMOG) has reaffirmed that Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena has been duly installed as the new leader of the church and has pledged full cooperation with security agencies investigating the alleged shooting incident involving former Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo.
In a statement signed by the Mission’s Public Relations Manager, Akwasi Ofori, the church dismissed what it described as widespread misinformation and distortions surrounding the incident that occurred shortly after the installation ceremony of the new leader.
According to the statement, the church, through its National Council of Elders and Head Office, organized a religious ceremony on June 21, 2026, to formally introduce and install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as successor to the late founder and leader of the church, Apostle Prof. Emeritus Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.
The church said all constitutional requirements and consultation processes were followed before the installation, stressing that the event was conducted successfully and in accordance with the church’s constitution.
KAMOG explained that after the ceremony, the newly installed leader left his residence to attend another engagement. It alleged that shortly afterward, a black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado drove to the premises and rammed the metallic gate three times before leaving.
The church noted that reports later emerged on social media and various media platforms alleging that Hon. Adwoa Safo had been shot by unidentified security personnel.
However, the church categorically denied claims that Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena was involved in the incident.
“We wish to categorically state that our newly installed leader was not physically present at his residence at the time of the incident and neither personally shot nor instructed anyone to shoot his blood sister, Hon. Adwoa Safo,” the statement said.
The church disclosed that Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena honoured an invitation from the police on June 22, 2026, accompanied by his legal team. It said investigators took his statement before he was subsequently arraigned before the Adenta Circuit Court and granted bail on June 23.
KAMOG also addressed reports concerning the arrest of seven security personnel linked to the incident. It stated that the officers were employees of Kantanka Security Services Limited, a registered private security company that had been operating with a valid licence before its suspension by the Ministry of the Interior.
The church rejected suggestions that the security personnel constituted a vigilante group, describing such claims as inaccurate.
The leadership of the Mission, including the National Council of Elders and National Executive Council, pledged to cooperate fully with the Ghana Police Service and other national security agencies to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
According to the statement, the church remains committed to ensuring that investigations are conducted transparently while protecting the reputation of the institution, which it said has maintained a non-violent record since its establishment more than five decades ago.

KAMOG further assured its members in Ghana and abroad that Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena remains the legitimate leader of the church and should be officially recognized as such.
The church added that it is exploring internal dispute-resolution mechanisms provided under its constitution to address what it described as a religious and family disagreement in an amicable manner.
The statement concluded with congratulations to Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena on his installation, with church leaders and members pledging their support to advance the vision of the late founder and preserve his legacy.
