Two suspects arrested after police intercepted a taxi and uncovered over 200 compressed slabs of suspected narcotic drugs, with an attempted GH¢100,000 bribe rejected.

The Agona Swedru District Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested two men in connection with the unlawful possession of suspected narcotic drugs following an early-morning operation in the Central Region.

According to the police, the operation was conducted on February 24, 2026, at about 8:30 a.m. along the Agona Asafo–Agona Kwesitsukwaa road. During the exercise, officers intercepted a taxi cab with registration number GR 2932-26 driven by Godfred Acquah, 28, with Awudu Usman, 34, as a passenger.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of four nylon sacks containing 154 compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drugs, concealed in the taxi.
