Ghana’s consumer inflation rate increased marginally to 3.4 percent year on year in April, marking a 0.2 percentage point increase over the 3.2 percent recorded in March, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) said on Wednesday.
The increase in April represented the first increase in inflation over the past 16 months since December 2024, when inflation stood at 23.8 percent.
GSS Government Statistician Alhassan Iddrisu said the increase in headline inflation in April was mainly due to a rise in non-food inflation.

“Non-food inflation increased to 4.2 percent in April, from 3.9 percent during the previous month, while food inflation declined by 1 percentage point to 2.2 percent,” Iddrisu said.
Meanwhile, inflation for locally produced and imported items stood at 4.7 percent and 0.5 percent in April, compared with 4.9 percent and -0.6 percent respectively in March.
