The Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, Wamkele Mene, is expected to participate in the 41st edition of the Feira Internacional de Luanda (FILDA 2026) in Angola.
The international trade fair, scheduled for July 21 to 26, 2026, will bring together businesses, investors, policymakers and private sector players from across Africa and beyond.
The event will be held at the Zona Económica Especial (ZEE) Luanda-Bengo in Ícolo e Bengo under the theme, “Produzir e Inovar Localmente, Vencer Globalmente”—translated as “Produce and Innovate Locally, Win Globally.”
Mr Mene is expected to address participants and engage exhibitors and representatives of the private sector during the fair.
His participation is expected to highlight the role of the AfCFTA in transforming Africa’s growing productive capacity into practical market opportunities for businesses across the continent.
FILDA, regarded as Angola’s largest international trade fair, provides a platform for enterprises to showcase locally produced goods, forge commercial partnerships and explore investment opportunities.
The participation of the AfCFTA Secretary-General comes at a time when the implementation of the continental free trade agreement is increasingly focused on moving beyond policy commitments to ensuring that African businesses can effectively access markets across borders.
The event also follows Angola’s validation of its national AfCFTA implementation strategy in Luanda, placing the country’s industrial and trade ambitions within the broader framework of the continental single market.
Mr Mene’s presence at FILDA 2026 is therefore expected to reinforce the connection between local production, innovation and the AfCFTA’s objective of creating a larger and more integrated market for African goods and services.
