The Institute of Packaging, Ghana (IOPG) celebrates 23 years of packaging excellence today with a remarkable record of advancing packaging technology, innovation and professional development in Ghana and the West African sub-region.
IOPG has since its inauguration in 2003 delivered professional training, advocacy, research, business advisory and consultancy services to industry players, small and medium enterprises and individuals to help reduce post-harvest losses, enhance food security, drive industrial productivity, increase domestic and international trade, and enhance economic growth.
To commemorate its 23rd anniversary, IOPG will host a Packaging Webinar on December 2, 2026 as part of Ghana’s National Farmers’ Day celebrations climaxing on December 4, 2026. The webinar themed, “Packaging as a Strategic Asset: Building Brand Loyalty and Driving Agricultural Value Creation”, is being organised in collaboration with Royal Crown Packaging Limited (RCPL), the Chamber of Agribusiness Ghana, Qualiplast Ghana Limited and ePack Flexible Packaging.
The webinar will focus on the strategic role of packaging in strengthening Ghana’s agricultural value chain and improving the competitiveness of locally produced goods. It will highlight the role of packaging beyond simply containing and protecting products to being an important business tool for value addition, building strong brands and increasing profitability. Key topics for discussion include agricultural value addition; post-harvest loss reduction; brand development and customer loyalty; market access and export competitiveness; regulatory requirements for local and international markets; sustainability and innovation.
The webinar will provide a platform for knowledge sharing and stakeholder engagement connecting farmers, agro-processors, packaging professionals, manufacturers, researchers, policymakers, trade facilitators, and other private-sector players. It will also emphasise the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in building a competitive, resilient and sustainable agricultural value chain.
As IOPG marks 23 years of advancing packaging excellence, it reaffirms its commitment to positioning packaging as a strategic driver of industrial development, agricultural transformation, trade and sustainable national development. IOPG invites key stakeholders—government agencies, industry associations, educational institutions, development organisations and the private-sector— to invest in appropriate and innovative packaging solutions to unlock the full potential of Ghana’s agricultural resources and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth.
