As part of the government’s commitment to modernising the transport sector, the deputy minister of transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, led a delegation from the ministry and Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) to a historical and modern city located in the northwest of Hubei Province in Central China.
Madam Affo-Toffey, who is also the Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, was accompanied by the Managing Director of MMTL, Kale Cesar Esq.; his deputy, Haroun Apaw-Wiredu; and other staff of the MMTL and Ministry.
They specifically visited the Xiangyang Tenglong Automobile Co., Ltd, a vehicle manufacturing company.
Xiangyang Tenglong Automobile Co., Ltd boasts assets of nearly 1 billion yuan and occupies an area of about 444,000 square metres.
It features comprehensive workshops for the four major processes – stamping, welding, painting and final assembly – equipped with over 600 sets of domestic first-class production lines and advanced equipment, including a leading vehicle electrophoresis line and an EMS automated electric hoist final assembly line.
The company’s diverse product portfolio mainly includes new energy buses, public and commercial vehicles, special-purpose vehicles, and various intelligent transportation equipment.
The Dorcas Affo-Toffey-led delegation engaged with leading vehicle manufacturers on the possible purchase of vehicles for public transportation.
The visit was also to expand Ghana’s national fleet and explore technical partnerships with China.
It provided a valuable opportunity to inspect Suzhou’s Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) smart electric buses with high capacity and assess their suitability for Ghana’s road conditions and safety standards as the government works to deliver efficient, reliable, and safe public transport for the good people of Ghana.
